D55 Otrokovice, SE bypass

3. 8. 2018
Road and Motorway Directorate launches south-east Otrokovice bypass on D55 motorway.

On Wednesday 3rd October 2018 the Road and Motorway Directorate begins the construction of the south-east Otrokovice bypass on the D55 motorway. The construction joins the already completed northeastern part and after its completion it will eliminate all transit traffic from the city.

The current traffic load on the I/55 carriageway is one of the worst within the Czech roadway network. The completion of this construction will result in removal of transit traffic from the transit section of the town of Otrokovice, which will lead to a significant reduction in emissions and traffic noise and thus to a significant improvement of the environment in Otrokovice.

"This bypass started today is a part of the planned extension of the D55 motorway which together with the D1 and the future D49 creates a major intersection at Hulín town, it will lead southbound to Uherské Hradiště and further on to the D2 motorway at Břeclav. After completion, together with the D1 motorway, it will provide a comfortable transport link between Olomouc and Břeclav ", said Jan Kroupa, the CEO of the Road and Motorway Directorate, as he presented the entire D55 motorway.
